The 2017 Chrysler 300: Iterative or Futuristic?

In an age where car manufacturers are fighting tooth and nail to outdo each other in a highly competitive automotive game, as an average consumer, you stand to benefit high-end specs at very attractive price points. And it’s not any different with the 2017 Chrysler 300. Boasting of a dapper, suave-like, impressive design, and bolstered by an 8-speed automatic transmission, it’s obvious that the new Chrysler iteration is going to be the company’s 2017 game changer. In fact, a good number of automotive analysts and car reviewers have already started heaping compliments on it, labeling it as one of the best versions to date in the Chrysler 300 series.

The design language

Although the 2017 Chrysler 300 is distinctively different from it’s older brothers in the Chrysler 300 domain, it still borrows a number of design concepts from them. For starters, the four-seater, compact sedan-like design returns in this new generation, although Chrysler decided to give this 2017 model a sleeker, more ‘sportish’ frame. As far as the exterior and first impressions go, there’s no denying that the 2017 Chrysler is likely to awe its fair share of admirers. The luxurious and glossy pristine finish coupled with the streamlined, smoothly tapering form factor, gives rise to an impressive, refined deluxe look.

The customary large front grille that has now become a semblance or trademark of the Chrysler edition returns in this brand new iteration, albeit a little bigger than the 2016 model. Further, Chrysler still stuck with their signature headlight placement design that we’ve been treated to in the past iterations.

Engine performance

Those who already own a 2016 Chrysler 300 model and are looking to upgrade will be pleased to know that Chrysler added a significant engine boost to the 2017 edition. Which, of course, is upgrading from the traditional 5.7 litre V6 engine to a more robust 6.4 litre V8 in the 2017 Chrysler 300. As a direct consequence, the new owners of the 2017 edition can look forward to an impressive 456 horsepower performance, with the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60mph in under 7 seconds.

The top speed, however, remains pegged at 166mph( 250km/hr) with a 394lb per feet torque. And it is expected that fuel consumption will range between 19mpg in city roads and 31mpg in highways and superhighways.

Further, the 2017 Chrysler 300 model will be available in four-wheel, and rear wheels drive variants, with the latter being cheaper than the former.

The interior

As it is the norm with Chrysler’s cars, the interior complements the stunning exterior in every sense. Just like its 2016 predecessor, the 2017 Chrysler 300 is a 4-door lightweight sedan with a plush interior cottage that can accommodate 3 or 4 passengers. And like many other luxury vehicles, there’s the option of different cabin themes, ranging from Manhattan, Detroit, Sausalito and LaJolla, California.

Tech enthusiasts are also treated to a 7-inch LCD display, fitted with all the vehicle’s crucial controls, in place of the conventional analogue dashboard. Novelties here include a routing program, an inbuilt navigation system and an immersive 10.1 high-tech sound system.

Price point and release date

The 2017 Chrysler 300 is expected to launch publicly late this year in most parts of the world, although it’s already available in selected few auto dealers in the US. The price of a new sedan revolves around US$ 33000 to $42000 depending on a variety of addition features including the car’s trim level.
