Volkswagen has over the years tried to revamp their car series. They dumped the aging 2.5 liter five cylinders for an efficient 1.8 liter turbo and recently launched the Jetta hybrid. The 2017 Volkswagen Jetta featured upgraded front-end and bi-xenon lights for structural enhancements. In addition, the Jetta has a diesel and a hybrid variant. Drivers will enjoy the brisk acceleration and sporty handling that makes this car entertaining to drive.


Compared to many entrants in this segment, the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta is stylishly conservative. The clean lines and honeycomb grille add a touch of elegance to the vehicle. Additionally, the sedan has 17-inch alloy wheels, dual exhaust tips and smoked taillights.

There are 6 speed auto or 6 speed manual transmission choices. The hybrid on the other hand has a 1.4 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder and electric motor. The TDI models use a 2 liter, turbo-diesel 4 cylinder connected to a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. These models are considered efficient compared to their counterpart. Drivers can expect 125 Ib-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. The automatic version has a fuel economy of 23/34 mpg, while the manual boasts of a 25/34 mpg.


Although the 2017 version has not yet been crash tested, similar 2014 models earned a 5 star rating from the NHTSA. Safety features available on this sedan include parking sensors and a blind monitoring system. Front and side airbags and xenon headlights are also included on this sedan.

The 2017 Volkswagen Jetta averages at about $18,000 for the economy car. The luxury sedan is approximately $30,000 with multiple features that are available on an entry level luxury car.

The hybrid version comes fully loaded at $32,500.
