Toyota Yaris is a subcompact car debuted in 1999. It’s a popular product line and the 2017 Toyota Yaris is its newest model.

While many praise its fuel efficiency, some say it’s only above average and even mediocre, criticizing its less-than-ideal cargo capacity and outdated four-speed automatic transmission.

Variations

The 2017 Toyota Yaris comes with two-door and four-door variation, both have L and LE trims.

The L has standard equipment like 15-inch steel wheels, height-adjustable driver seat, HD radio, and CD player. But it also has a 6.1-inch touchscreen, a trend that we see more and more in recent years.

The upgraded LE has more technology built in that could make you feel modern. You could enter it without using a key, and pause or resume the music right from the comfort of the steering wheel.

Power

2017 Toyota Yaris is driven by font wheel and powered by a 1.5-liter engine with 106 hp. Its horsepower is decent, but some complain its four-speed automatic transmission, commenting that it should be replaced with a more up-to-date six-speed transmission.

But this is not a problem for you if you don’t mind switching to manual transmission, as it also has five-speed manual transmission available.

Driving Experience

As an entry-level subcompact car, you shouldn’t be expecting supercar level performance from this car. Its acceleration is enough for your daily driving to work, and if you happen to find yourself on the high way, it could still be fast enough. Though if you compare it to its competitors, you might be disappointed by this car. Aside from speed, comfort is also an important factor contributing to a car’s driving experience. Driving in this car is comfortable enough because of its big interior space and comfortable seats. This comfort is not exclusive to the driver, however, as the backseat provides enough space for passengers sitting on it to not feel restrained. This is a feature that we really like about this car and we hope to find in more cars.

Conclusion

In conclusion, 2017 Toyota Yaris is a good subcompact car for your day to day driving and maybe a little traveling. Its affordable price and fuel efficiency makes it attractive to economy-aware customers and young graduates buying their first car. The comfort in driving this car is also a big plus and will make a big difference for your experience, though this is often neglected by car buyers.

I don’t know if it’s only me, but I’m glad to see a touchscreen on this car. Even if it doesn’t really do as much as the one on Tesla,it looks cool.
